At this time we are not releasing students unless a parent is with them. . The school is open as a shelter due to the power outage in town. Families are welcome to come stay in the gym until power is restored in town. We are experiencing white out conditions so please be extremely careful when coming up to the school

When coming to pick up your child please use the North Doors as the wind is making it difficult to open the south/main doors. Thank you.

This is a reminder that we will be having a Lockdown drill at the school tomorrow. The drill is scheduled to take place at 10:20 am.

We will conduct a lockdown drill on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at approximately 10:15 AM at our school. Conducting lockdown drills is critical to ensuring our students and staff's safety and preparedness. In alignment with BSSD safety guidelines, lockdown drills are conducted at least twice a year, once each semester. These drills are essential in preparing our school community for potential emergency situations. We will involve local VPOs and VPSOs in our drill, as their participation provides invaluable expertise and realism to the exercise. During the drill, students and staff will practice the actions to take if an actual lockdown is necessary. The aim is to ensure everyone can quickly and safely find shelter in a secured classroom or evacuate if needed. Examples of situations that might initiate a lockdown include the presence of a dangerous animal within the school, an intruder, a violent individual, a report of a weapon, or an active assailant. We appreciate your support and understanding as we conduct this lockdown drill. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

1. Scoring well on the AK STAR and Alaska Science Assessments can indicate a student's readiness for post-secondary education and careers, particularly in fields that require strong academic and scientific skills. 2. Achieving high scores can make students eligible for scholarships and financial aid, reducing the financial burden of college. 3. The assessments provide valuable feedback to students, parents, and educators on students' academic progress, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. 4. Scoring well in these assessments can build a strong foundation for future standardized tests, such as the SAT or ACT, required for college admission. 5. High achievement on state assessments can give students a competitive edge in the college admissions process. 6. Performing well can boost students' confidence in their academic abilities, encouraging them to do better in school and engage more actively in their education.
