📣 BSSD Loyal fans get ready for our first NFHS live streamed event, the 42nd Annual Wrestling & Cheerleading Tournament! Bering Strait School District will be transitioning to live streaming school activities for all school sites through the NFHS Network. To watch BSSD hosted events for free, create a ✅FREE ✅ account by following this link (https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/users/sign_up). No need to sign up for a paid subscription to watch BSSD hosted events, the district is covering the subscription fee! Currently, the system is installed in Unalakleet, but stay tuned for updates as we get the NFHS equipment installed across the district.
We will be holding parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Report cards will be available at the front office, then you can go speak to your child's teacher(s). There will be a 1:30 P.M. early-out that day.
Please pick up your students at the north doors of the school today due to the high winds. Thank you.
The school doors will be open at 10:20 this morning. If you do not want to send your child due to the weather, please call the school and they will be excused. Stay safe.
School will start at 11 AM tomorrow. We will monitor the weather and make adjustments if needed in the morning.

Reminder to parents: There is no school on Friday, October 18, 2024; it is a teacher workday. That means that Thursday is the last day of the first quarter. We will be planning parent-teacher conferences very soon.
There will NOT be an early-out tomorrow, October 15, 2024 as originally planned. The district is redoing the early-out schedule. I will post the new early-out dates when I know them. Thanks.

We have to change the release time for K-3 to 1:30 P.M. on September 4th and September 5th instead of 12:30 P.M. in order to meet the district requirement for an official school day. Sorry for the confusion.

The State of Alaska and the Bering Strait School District requires that the school keep parents informed of the number of days that their child has missed school. To do this, we will send out "absence letters" when your child has five unexcused absences and 10 unexcused absences. At 15 unexcused absences, the school is required to inform the District Attorney about the truant student. My understanding is that these letters have not been sent out in the past like they should have been, but we will be sending them out this year. Thank you.
Grades K-3 will be released at 12:15 P.M. on September 4th and September 5th so the K-3 teachers can attend a training that is required by the district office. Thank you.
There will be no school for students today, August 22, 2024. We are still working to resolve water and sanitation issues and do not think students should be in the building at this time. Thank you and see you tomorrow morning.
There will be no school for students tomorrow, August 21, 2024 due to the impending storm and the water situation. Certified and classified staff will have an inservice day and should report from 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. We hope to see you all on Thursday!
Please read the attached letter from Tammy Dodd, BSSD Superintendent, regarding last night's devasting loss in Stebbins.
School will start at 10 a.m. today. Have your Husky report to their 10 a.m. class, and they will then follow their regular schedule. A breakfast snack will be served. The main entrance is closed and will remain locked for today. Use the North Side Entrance to enter and exit the school. Middle School will have closed campus for lunch today again, so they will not be leaving at lunchtime.
At this time we are not releasing students unless a parent is with them. .
The school is open as a shelter due to the power outage in town. Families are welcome to come stay in the gym until power is restored in town. We are experiencing white out conditions so please be extremely careful when coming up to the school
