We will have an Early Out at 2 pm tomorrow, Tuesday March 19. School Staff will be attending a virtual training with the district office.
1. Scoring well on the AK STAR and Alaska Science Assessments can indicate a student's readiness for post-secondary education and careers, particularly in fields that require strong academic and scientific skills.
2. Achieving high scores can make students eligible for scholarships and financial aid, reducing the financial burden of college.
3. The assessments provide valuable feedback to students, parents, and educators on students' academic progress, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
4. Scoring well in these assessments can build a strong foundation for future standardized tests, such as the SAT or ACT, required for college admission.
5. High achievement on state assessments can give students a competitive edge in the college admissions process.
6. Performing well can boost students' confidence in their academic abilities, encouraging them to do better in school and engage more actively in their education.

Build that future!
A Goal is the needle on a compass that shows us the direction we need to go. Children can build simple goals early on, around preschool age. Parents play a role in this process by guiding, supporting, and encouraging their children's goal-setting efforts. Parents can teach the value of setting goals and working towards them. When creating goals, the focus should be on ensuring they are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART), aligned to a child's age and interests.
Congratulations to all the winners on 2024 Academic Decathlon Winners held at White Mountain.

If the bad weather persists through the rest of the week, we will implement a contingency plan to have classes on Thursday and Friday if possible. We will keep you posted.

Good Morning Huskies, We have regular schedule today but, feel free to call in a weather excuse if needed. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Hard work pays off. This week our focus is on the process of working hard and seeing the results. Keep it up Huskies.
Good Evening Huskies,
I am writing to inform you of an upcoming lockdown drill scheduled for Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at approximately 1:20 PM at our school. Conducting lockdown drills is critical to ensuring our students and staff's safety and preparedness.
In alignment with BSSD safety guidelines, lockdown drills are conducted at least twice a year, once each semester. These drills are essential in preparing our school community for potential emergency situations. This year, we plan to involve local VPOs and VPSOs in our drill, as their participation provides invaluable expertise and realism to the exercise.
During the drill, students and staff will practice the actions to take if an actual lockdown is necessary. The aim is to ensure everyone can quickly and safely find shelter in a secured classroom or evacuate if needed. Examples of situations that might initiate a lockdown include the presence of a dangerous animal within the school, an intruder, a violent individual, a report of a weapon, or an active assailant.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we conduct this lockdown drill. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
It was nice to see our Scholars today. School is out for the day, and all Huskies who requested a ride home were shuttled by our maintenance department. Some loose sheet metal is hanging off the roof and flapping in the wind, use extreme caution if you come by the school. Stay Safe Savoonga.
We will have a regular start to the school day. If you have no power and heat you are welcome to come to the school gym. Please do not send children unescorted to the school. Breakfast for students will be served at 8:20 am. Stay safe.
